Every business needs an open-minded and courageous leader to steer its ship. Allan of Broz Car Accessories, a top-selling seller in Lazada’s automotive category is no stranger to the growth mindset and pushing beyond limits for business success.

Never fear to learn
Allan passionately shares that his secret of success is to never fear to learn. You must push yourself to a limit to identify your strong points, capability, and skill level.
Having uprooted his offline business from Cheras to Penang in 2002, he took a leap of faith to bring Broz Car online with the support of Lazada in 2016. Within just three days, Allan’s Lazada store raked in sales. Being open-minded to learning eCommerce made Allan realize that while the first step is the hardest, results often show up once you put in the hard work and force yourself to learn new things.
In addition to applying this “never fear to learn” philosophy in life, one must also adopt a “growth mindset” to do well. Like a business, a person with a growth mindset understands that achieving success can only come through hard work, good strategies, and input from others. So, hustle, learn all that you can, and keep an open mind! Life is an ocean of opportunities.
You are your own brand
Allan offers a few nuggets of wisdom when it comes to branding and building the customer’s trust:
Build a good image for your brand and products
Your items should be safe, of decent quality, intact without damages, functional, and meet the needs of your customers. This way, the number of good experiences with your shop shall far outweigh any bad ones. Keep in mind that a customer’s journey does not end at a purchase. Good after sales service that is done in a prompt manner is essential.
Be responsive and quick in live chat
Practice a turnaround time of less than 20 minutes whenever someone messages you in your eCommerce live chat. Imagine this, a customer arrives at your shopfront and waits for someone to serve him.
He or she will walk away frustrated and disappointed if nobody arrives to assist after 20 minutes. This is very unfortunate as you lose both the opportunity to close sales and the customer’s trust in your brand. The exact same scenario applies to an eCommerce store. As the saying goes, “opportunity knocks once.”
Make your customer happy, make your customer love you

If something works, adapt from it
Last but not least is Allan’s lesson that learning from those around you is important. If you surround yourself with those who have succeeded, it is only a matter of time that you can adapt to their way of thinking and learn from them.
When it comes to eCommerce and Lazada, Allan suggests working closely with Lazada’s Seller Ambassadors in your city. They will help you, guide you, and improve your sales. As a result, lots of time can be saved and bumps, potholes, or mistakes that dampen sales performance can be avoided.
In fact, Malaysian Lazada ambassador Teh Chun Kai has assisted more than 500 SME sellers in the community. While Indonesian Lazada ambassador Farica Yosafat often teaches on LazClass and Laz Hangout in Bandung to grow the seller community in her city.
Never underestimate the power of mentorship. It can catapult you to greater heights at a faster rate. It serves as a fast-track to success if you consistently connect, ask questions, and learn from the Lazada ambassadors.
